Our Participatory Action Research Projects provide an opportunity for everyone to explore new ideas, see what works and what doesn’t, and make adjustments along the way. The projects below are just some of those underway, more are coming soon…
Renew
Renew is an emerging social enterprise offering work opportunities to people who are disadvantaged in seeking employment. No previous experience necessary, only the desire to get involved in this new project.
Revive
A range of free community-led workshops and supported activities in a variety of subjects to help gain a variety of skills and advocate wellbeing.
RWNS community cafe
The Refugees’ Welcome Cafe is a place or people resettled into Weston to find local friends, support and help.
English language classes
English language classes run by RENS take place weekly on a Friday, 12pm to 3pm.
Bengali language classes
Bangla classes for children run by the Bangladeshi Association are taking place weekly.
Ago Ame
Ago Ame is a newly formed action group for the African Caribbean community in Weston. It meets weekly on a Monday evening.

The library of things Weston aims to reduce waste by offering affordable ‘things’ to rent such as drills, sound systems and sewing machines from your community.

Shore up Weston: Enterprise Guild
The “Enterprise Guild” offers workshops, one-on-one mentoring and networking events designed to cultivate enterprise skills, as well as encourage a sense of community engagement.
Shore up Weston: Citizen Journalism
“Citizen journalism” is a series of free workshops in Citizen Journalism, which is defined as writing that describes, reflects and in turn shapes the communities in which we live.
LGBT+ Forum: Colours
LGBT+ Forum: 50+
50+ is a free social group for members of the LGBT+ community who are over the age of 50. It’s one of the monthly groups run by the North Somerset LGBT+ Forum, in collaboration with Curo.

LGBT+ Forum: Family+
Family+ is a group for parents and family members of LGBT+ individuals to ask questions, get support and information, or just pop along for a chat! Children under the age of 13 are welcome to attend if supervised by a parent or guardian.
